iOS AppTime tracking · Projects · Calendar import

Overview

TimeTrackingTool is a lean time tracker for the iPhone. Assign your work to projects and tags, start and stop timers, review entries and export your data as a CSV file.

Projects, tags and entries stay on your device. Optionally you can add a calendar feed and take over completed events as entries.

Screenshots

Real app views from an iOS Simulator set up for this purpose. Projects, entries and the calendar address are made up. No personal data or real calendar feeds were used.

Detailed description

Timers and entries

Choose one or more projects or areas and tags, and start a timer with one tap. Alternatively, enter a completed period with notes. Entries can be edited, stopped, assigned to other projects and deleted. The app marks overlapping entries as possible conflicts so that you can check them.

Projects, tags and reports

Projects stand for clients, employers, areas of life or other contexts. Tags are managed per project and can optionally be grouped into named tag types. The monthly overview shows the recorded time per day, project and tag.

Live Activity, widget and Siri

Running timers can stay visible as a Live Activity and widget, and Shortcuts and Siri can start timers. Note that project names may then appear on the Lock Screen. The Stop button on the Live Activity ends the running entry directly.

Calendar import

You can assign a calendar address (HTTPS, webcal or webcals) to a project. The app loads the feed and suggests completed events for import. If you like, «Import Completed Events» takes over all events of the included calendars. Events already imported are skipped. The feature only runs when you trigger it, not in the background. Recurrence rules (RRULE) are not expanded, so the feed should contain single events. Calendar addresses can contain secret access keys and are shown shortened in the app.

CSV export

The export contains all entries with project, tags, notes, start, end and duration in seconds and is passed to a destination of your choice through the iOS share sheet.

Privacy

The app has no user account, no advertising and no analytics or tracking components. Entries, projects, tags, settings and calendar addresses are stored locally in app storage and are not encrypted by the app. The app only contacts a calendar feed’s server if you add one. That server can process connection data and the address, including any key it contains. CSV files only leave the app through the destination you choose.
